Happy New Year everyone! I hope everyone had a happy and safe holidays over the past couple of weeks. It was nice having a break from work and photography while my family was in town… but my mom did request for family pictures since I’ve gone pro now. :) Anyhow, I still have plenty of favorites that I would like to share with you so I’ll continue posting more ‘Best of 2010’ segments until I’m done reviewing all my sessions and pictures.

I don’t go to many concerts, in fact, I could probably count on one hand all the concerts I’ve been into in my entire life. But when it was announced that Lady Gaga was coming to St. Louis, it didn’t take much convincing from Ali for us to buy tickets. I think part of what sold me was knowing that we were going to do a ton of people watching with fans dressed up in their favorite Lady Gaga costume. Ali knew she was going to dress up from the day she bought the tickets and surprisingly, it didn’t take her all that long to put this ensemble together. We snapped a few pictures before heading out the door and really liked this one. Maybe it’s because it shows my awesome lighting bolt drawing skills very well. :)

I loved how this picture came out. The light bounced off the walls to produced a fun, candid and fashionable picture of Danielle.

Jade Smith’s hair glows from the sun setting behind and her eyes just pop in this picture… in fact you can see me taking the picture in the reflection. She’s definitely going to be a heart breaker when she grows up.

After having my first official photography session, I was pretty down on myself since I thought it went pretty crappy (pictures and poses were very traditional, one of the subjects simply just did NOT want to be there and I never got paid for the session or pictures). Luckily, Kelly and Brian (my future sister and brother in-law) were around the area and was up for standing in front of the camera while I snapped away. The impromptu session really brought my morale and confidence back up. I love how the sun is setting behind Kelly and Brian as they pose for a candid picture for me. :)

If you haven’t experienced Lollapalooza, then you are really missing out. My friend Clark scored VIP tickets and I was luckily enough to get the extra ticket. It was 3 days of drinking, listening + watching live music with the sun setting behind the Chicago city sky line. Technically, SLR cameras were NOT allowed in event (unless you have a photographer pass) so I opted not to bring my camera on the first day to see how tight the security was. After watching a ton of people walking around with their SLR cameras, I smuggled my 7D in the bottom of my back pack… I’m glad I did or else I would have miss some great sun setting pictures like this one.

Another first for me… This is from my first engagement session with Nikki and Alex. I’m pretty critical of myself and my work which means I’m not terribly happy with some of my earlier work (when I mean ‘earlier’ I mean from a few months ago) but this still remains one of my favorite images. It’s simply a peaceful moment of the couple as the sun sets on a summer evening in down town St. Louis.
