Bridgette + Zac @ Downtown St. Louis

When Zac and Bridgette asked me if I had any locations in mind for their engagement session, I asked Zac what I typically ask my clients, “Are you looking for something with trees and grass or perhaps something more rural like buildings and trees?”. Zac replied, “rural, and we are open to anything”…couples who are open to any of my ideas make me smile from ear to ear! :) Ok, it probably helps that this awesome couple also happens to be friends of Ali and I, but the session was a ton of fun. Once again, Ali tagged along to help me out with the typical assistant stuff (carry bag, holding camera and lenses, etc), but she’s also great at providing ideas with posing and watching out for various things (hair placement, wardrobe malfunctions, etc). It also allows us to spend time with each other, which is always great. :)

Back to Zac and Bridgette; opting to do an engagement session was a last minute decision, and we managed to squeeze it in with only weeks before the wedding. We met in downtown St. Louis off of Hall street where a ton of old sketchy industrial buildings reside. I had Google Mapped this location beforehand, and from what I could tell from the satellite images, it would prove to be an interesting location to shoot at. Boy was I right! We stayed out of the buildings, which were gated off to prevent trespassers from sneaking in. Instead, we walked around the area which had a ton of ‘character’ and was surprisingly pretty clean. Zac and Bridgette were great sports the entire session, and they proved they were truly open minded when I asked them to climb on top of rusty old generators so I could get some shots of the building and broken windows behind them. Other than that, it was your typical engagement session that included climbing on top and in dumpsters + drainage pipes, running from questionable rodents that rumbled through the grass and lots of laughing of course… :)

Thanks guys for letting me doing your engagement session, and I can’t wait to post images from your wedding… (which is the next wedding I’ll be featuring!).
