Megan and Gavin’s wedding is the 4th wedding for me in 2013 and the coincidentally, the forth time I’m back at Windows on Washington. :) Remember Megan and Gavin? They rocked their engagement session over and Sugar Creek Winery late last year. If Gavin doesn’t look familiar, that’s because he cut his long wavy locks for the clean cut look for the wedding. I absolutely loved this wedding… loved the colors, loved the details (e.g stripe ties, slim fitting suits, yellow pashminas, short dresses, etc) and of course, loved working with Megan and Gavin. I knew from their engagement session that they were super comfortable in front of the camera and were open to anything for a great image… basically a photographer’s dream.

One of the perks of this job is the opportunity to work with photographers with a helluva talent. You’ve seen images from friends/photographers from the Genesis Workshop who have flown over to good old STL to shoot with me but there is a ton of local talent right here in the Show Me state. Case in point, Michelle Ross is a seriously talented photographer/artist and it was an absolute honor having her document Megan + Gavin’s wedding along side with me.

Hey peeps! Sorry if it looked like I was MIA for the last couple of weeks. I was sick for the better part of a week… Ali gave me something that involved sneezing and cough up nasty stuff (gross). Also, I was out of town for week in Nashville, TN… yeehaw! What does that mean? It means I have some catchin’ up to do. ;) Ok, let’s kick it off with Sally and Ryan’s engagement session in Columbia, MO.

Sometimes, it’s not what you know… it’s who you know. Take Sally for example… She’s a Mizzou alumni and knows the ‘gate keeper’ for Faurot field. Yep, that’s right… the same field with the Mizzou Tigers play. So we jumped on the opportunity to shoot part of Sally + Ryan’s engagement session there while they were closed for the season. But it also meant that a good part of the stadium was under construction. :( Of course it also didn’t help that it started raining just when we got the session started. (boooooooo) No worries… the stadium had a ton of indoor areas to do plenty of cool stuff while we waited for the rain to stop and it was hard not to do the entire session there. But we stayed focus and broke away half way through the session to get warmed at Jesse Hall. Just like Faurot field, we had the entire place to ourselves… LOVE IT.

Ok, if you didn’t figure it out yet, Sally + Ryan’s wedding date is in September later this year and I predict a KILLER wedding. Sally is pretty detailed oriented (just like me!) but very creative (just like me!)… in fact, she wrote me a poem to convince to take on one more wedding for 2013 (golf clap)

Sally + Ryan, thanks for braving the wet AND cold. You are the definition of troopers. ;)

What is up with this crazy weather lately? On one day, I’m using the A/C in the car, the next day I have to turn on the heat! Hopefully this means we’ll have a more balanced summer… not like we’ve been getting the last couple years which have been super hot. *ugh*

Luckily, the weather stayed consistent for us on Ashlee and Danny’s wedding day. They live in Cincinnati, Ohio but met in St. Louis while attending SLU years ago. While is why St. Francis Xavier College Church made for the perfect location for their ceremony. Afterward, we hung out at the SLU campus for some wedding party pictures before heading over to Windows on Washington for a night of eating, drinking, laughing and dancing of course. Oh, and big props to Ashlee’s sisters, Heather and Brittany, for their rapping and dancing their maid of honor speech! *fist bump*

Kate Hargis helped me (once again) document Ashlee + Danny’s wedding. Love working with her… she always captures some wicked moments.

Back in the into the Windy City! Ok, I won’t bother telling how much we love Chicago (especially since this marks our 5th time shooting there), but this time Chi-town was NOT kind to us. For the record, it had to be the coldest weather we’ve ever had to shoot in. You would think that would be a downer and prevent us from being too adventurous… right? Nope. I somehow convinced Katie + Scott to brave the freezing cold (no joke, 20 degree with blowing wind) for 11 minutes and take a ride in the Ferris wheel at Navy Pier. But at least it was worth the ride up. :)

Now a bit about Katie and Scott… she’s originally from St. Louis and works in HR, he’s a lawyer (he went over my contract with a fine tooth comb… haha). They are getting hitched in December this year and their reception will be at Moulin (beautiful location). They also were one of the last couples I booked for the 2013 wedding season (of course after I already capped off the year… sorry Ali!) but we are super glad we did cause they were a dream to work with under less than ideal conditions. I always tell clients that I can fix a lot of things in editing but I can’t fix expressions… I can’t change anything if you look cold. That said, Katie + Scott, you guys rock!

Can’t wait to do it again in December kids… :)

I have no idea how Brittany + Kevin found us but we are sure glad they did. We loved working with these peeps… they are super cool, laid back, open to ideas, patient with the creative process and awesome in front of the camera. Seriously, what more could you ask for?! Their wedding is coming up next month at the Randall Gallery and yours truly will be there to document it. ;) We are super excited and can’t wait!

The month of April was the month of attending weddings! We attend 3 weddings in 2 weeks (wowsers). It also gave me the opportunity to test out a couple lens from CPS. In this case, I was messing around with Canon’s 24mm 3.5L TS-E lens while we were in Kansas City.

SNOW… Yep, that’s how Megan and Mark’s wedding day ended.

Not only is Mark a college friend of Ali’s, he’s also a nut for the import car scene… just like us. Put us all in a room and we’ll chat all day long about cars and Hondas. Poor Megan has had to endure our long conversations about modifying cars during our meetings. But this day was not about cars… this day was about smiling, crying, dancing, laughing, eating, drinking and of course snow.

It was a cold day from start to finish… so BIG props to Megan, Mark and their entire wedding party for braving the and putting on a smile when it was time for pictures. I always tell my peeps that I can change plenty of things in editing but what I can’t change are expressions… I can’t change if you look like you are freezing you butt off! :) It was forecasting for snow throughout the day but it actually didn’t come until the end of the night… luckily Ali and I stuck around the reception to catch up with some of Ali’s friends and jumped outside to get a few moments of Megan and Mark in the snow… they got a little wet but it was totally worth it.
