If you’ve been following my journey into portrait photography since the beginning, then you’ll know that I took my first leap into this area when Ali (my fiancee) allowed me to shoot some pictures of her at the Lemp Brewery a couple years back. Shortly afterward, I had enough courage to ask my friends Katie and Shane (who we affectionately call ‘Shatie’) if they would stand in front of the camera for me so I could get more practice. I didn’t have a set agenda or ideas of what I wanted to capture which made for a long day (luckily we broke for lunch and a bear at some point!). A year later, my photography business is doing well with bookings just about every weekend (sorry babe! *kiss*) but I refuse to settle on just what I know. I want to continue to push myself into different areas of portrait photography so I can get a better understanding on what’s possible and to help capture the images I have in my head into the camera. Once again, I asked Katie and Shane to stand in front of the camera for me but I had a specific list of items I wanted to tackle… while some things worked out, other items didn’t. The weather didn’t exactly help either but ‘Shatie’ were awesome to work with as I gave them various directions to follow throughout the evening. Thanks Katie and Shane! Enjoy some of the pictures (which were edited differently than my usual style) and look out for more stuff in the future!
