Merry Christmas everyone! I hope everyone got what they wanted from Santa… I scored pretty well with not one but TWO kickass Masterpiece Transformers… yep, I’m a geek. ;)
But enough about me… today’s blog post is all about these beautiful girls; Mallory and Katie. Now usually, I’m fortunate enough to document one gorgeous gal during an engagement session but on this brisk October evening, I had the opportunity to have TWO gorgeous gals in front of my camera. Yep, that’s right… Mallory and Katie have officially popped my cherry to become my first same-sex couple and they could have not made my job any easier with their good looks and engaging personalities.
When they contacted me back in March, I was asked if I had any issues documenting a same sex wedding since during the planning process, they had encounter a few vendors who weren’t comfortable which kind of bummed me out. Coming from Montreal, I like to think I’m pretty open minded (Montrealers tend to be pretty liberal :)). Not to mention that I grew up in the small town of Chateauguay (about 30 mins away from the city) where being Asian made me the minority in high school. The racist jokes, remarks and comments were all too common among high school kids… It’s so unfortunate that not much has changed in today’s world where people can’t be proud of who and what they are without being judged, bullied, insulted, made fun of or even refused service for something they can’t simply change.
But back to their session… the girls braved the chilly Fall day while Ali and I along with Mallory’s bro Marshall, walked the streets and back alleys of Central West End. Marshall was there to do video of the session for the girls (which is pretty friggin cool) but we quickly put him to work with a little leaf throwin’… hahaha. Thanks bud! Over the course of the evening, we might have scaled several flight of steps, laid on the cold concrete floor, messed up a lawn by spreading leafs everywhere (oops) and overheard an old man yelling at his cat. :P
Mallory and Katie are having their wedding in Columbia, MO in September 2014 and I’m the lucky Asian who gets to have them as
Can’t wait girls! :)
