There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that I wouldn’t be where I’m at now (where ever that is) without the support of the photography community (online, local and national). I became obsessed with portrait photography a couple years ago and was relentless with learning more. I would stare at various images on Fred Miranda and would constantly be blown away by what a little black device could capture using the right techniques and vision. To this day, I am still in awe of what’s possible as I continually expand my knowledge and add to my toolbox. Thanks to web forums, my friends, and a small group of photographers for enabling me to learn, and also receive critique that would steer me in the right direction. It all helped me to become a better photographer and grow a thicker skin (which is still pretty thin :P).
Over the last year or so, I’ve received several inquiries from various peeps asking if they can tag along during one of my sessions and/or weddings. First of all, I’m absolutely flattered that anybody would even want to learn from me. I never really gave it much thought, since Ali usually comes along with me on most sessions + weddings. However, I’m all about giving back to the community. I never had the balls to ask any local photographers if I could second shoot or assist them on a session or wedding… I probably took the long route, but I was determined to learn even if it was on my own. So mad props for those of you who have had the courage to ask me or other photographers for the opportunity. *fist bump*
Anyhow, with Ali learning more and more about photography, she needs to spend more time shooting and less time assisting me at weddings + sessions… which means we are looking for some peeps to assist us. What does ‘assisting’ mean exactly?
In exchange, you can ask away with any questions you might have. I’ll warn you now, I don’t know everything, but I’ll do my best to answer your questions…and who knows, maybe we might figure out the answers together. :)
So in short, wanna help us out? Shoot us an email.
UPDATE (2012-10-30) : Thanks for all the messages peeps! I promise to get back to everyone who has sent us an email or Facebook message! It’s a crazy week this week but I will be in touch!
